Ed Whitcomb, of Hayden, Indiana, was born to John and Louise in 1917. An athlete in high school, Ed enrolled in Indiana University to study law, but like so many young men of this age, he quit school to join the Army Air Corps at the outbreak of World War II.
Ed’s first book, Escape From Corrigidor, details his heroic journey from the Battle of the Philippines to his capture and torture by the Japanese and his eventual return to the United States in 1943.
